Labour Force Survey the Canada jobs report

When is the next Canada jobs report?

The Statistics Canada calendar puts the next Labour Force Survey, the Canada jobs report, at 8:30 AM EDT on Friday, Sep 4, 2026. Every one of the 7 dated entries lands at 8:30 AM Eastern, on a monthly interval, across the run from Sep 4, 2026 to Mar 12, 2027.

Statistics Canada states these release dates in the machine-readable calendar behind its key economic indicators page, and each was cross-checked against the agency annual release-date document and its own table metadata. The agency states one clock for everything it publishes rather than a time per release: The Daily is released Monday to Friday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time, except during holidays.

What it measures

Labour Force Survey, in one paragraph

The Labour Force Survey is the Canadian monthly count of employment, unemployment, and participation, taken from a household survey. It is the Canadian equivalent of the American jobs report and lands on a Friday morning.

What JMM reads first

Statistics Canada publishes a confidence interval with the monthly employment change, and it is wide enough that a print the headlines call strong or weak is often statistically indistinguishable from no change at all. Read that interval before the number, then read the three-month trend and the participation rate together: employment falling because people stopped looking is a different labour market from employment falling because jobs disappeared.
